We set up a field trial at the University of Vienna where we sow the barley wild-type summer cultivar Golden promise (GP) at the beginning of April 2019 and we constantly measured the soil temperature, water potential (in 20, 30 and 50 cm soil depth), and air temperature.
In 2021 we upscaled the field trial to a big organic barley field in lower Austria. There we could install loggers for air and soil temperature and also light intensity and soil humidity.
Setup of data logger
Collecting climate data helps us to define appropriate temperature settings for the different development stages of barley.
